Description of Xanagas
Xanagas lies in South West Botswana on the border with Namibia 30 (thirty) kilometres from the Mamuno/Buitepos border gate. The property is about 10 000 (ten thousand) hectares in extend and forms part of the greater Kalahari Desert basin that encapsulates South Africa, Botswana and Namibia. It makes it the third largest desert biosphere after the Sahara and Kobi Deserts of Mongolia.
The property has been developed to cater for both rifle and bow hunting with strategically placed hides at waterholes. The animals found here are typical of the environment with oryx, eland, and kudu on the larger side of things the most common. However excellent springbuck, steenbuck and duiker trophies have been hunted here, mainly because of the area been so well protected.
The property boasts a 3(three) bedroom 5 star lodge that has just recently being concluded. Build from sand through a unique bag compacting system the lodge nicely blends in with the natural environment and surroundings overlooking a very nice waterhole where up to 7 (seven) kudu bulls at once came to drink.
The area is last very famous for it sand grouse hunting. The area carries 4 (four) different types of grouse that are mainly hunter between 9-10 in the morning when they come to drink water.
Lastly the property consists mainly of acacia trees very popular in particular under browsers like eland, kudu and giraffe. Prepare to have a very good walk in thick Kalahari white sand that covers the entire property.
Species to be hunted
Main species to be hunted are: caracal, duiker, duiker-grey, eland, gemsbok, giraffe, hartebeest, impala, jackal, kudu, ostrich, porcupine, roan, sable, springbok-common, steenbok, warthog, waterbuck, wildbeest-blue, zebra-burchell.
Accommodation
Xanagas is a 6 sleeper boutique lodge build from sand bags overlooking a well positioned waterhole teaming of wildlife. The lodge as mentioned, build from the sands of the site has resulted in a new organic construction trend in the bigger industry.
The unique thick walls, isolated by the sand and well rounded of with extremely well chosen interior decorating has created a temperature sensitive lodge in an environment with extreme conditions.
