Description of Wingshooting
Definitely one of the sports of kings. A very underestimated discipline in hunting associated to Africa in particular, yet one of the higgest varieties of game birds that can be hunted in the world. As much as most of our properties entertain wing- shooting we have gone further and concluded joint ventures with specialist in our areas we own property taking this beautiful sport to the next level. We at H&F mainly distinct between three main bird hunts which include, duck and geese, game birds and then pigeons and doves.
Each of these disciplines requires different skills and even in the case of pigeons and doves only happens during the African summer after sunflower in particular has been harvested. Ducks, geese and game birds are normally hunted similar to other African game during winter when the birds are not breeding or roosting. Eigeons and doves however are hunted during January to April when mainly sunflower is harvested stimulating very big flocks of pigeons and doves literally ascending on these fields. This is truly a spectacular sight and therefore part of our offering as much as it does not coincide with the normal hunting season.
We currently jointly manage about 132 000 (one hundred and thirty-two thousand) hectares of wing-shooting areas excluding our own properties. We offer this as an individual package or in the case of most of our members and clients as an addition to their normal hunting. Many hunters choose to get rid of "jet lag" etc by first starting with a relaxing wing shoot hunt where after the serious part of the safari is started.
